SPHERICAL PLAIN BEARINGS

CIP Composite self-aligning and self-lubricating spherical plain bearings and races are an ideal alternative to metal on metal and roller element bearings in many applications. By replacing one metal element, either the ball or the race with CIP Composites, customers have the ability to operate without the need for grease lubrication. The elasticity of the CIP composite material can help distribute or spread point loads and help dampen vibration which can cause roller element type bearings to fail.

CIP Composites spherical bearing systems are suitable for industrial, heavy equipment, mining, material handling, agriculture, marine, oil & gas, hydropower, wind energy, and other industries. Our team will review your application and provide design and material recommendations.

Spherical Race

For higher loads, the race is the most common element in the spherical bearing system that CIP Composites’ manufacturers. Designed with a mating spherical inner surface to fit over the steel ball and manufactured with a single-split, double-split, or window cut for easy installation of the inner spherical ball.

Inner Spherical Race

Applications with lighter loads and/or little movement may use an inner spherical ball made with CIP Composite material and the outer race as steel. This design may not only offer a maintenance free solution, but a more cost effective alternative. Our engineering department will work with you and provide the best design recommendations for your application.

Manufacturing capabilities

CIP Composites are made to the customers’ drawings or our experts can provide recommendations and design support. CIP has the ability to machine a spherical race OD up to 16 inches and the spherical ball diameter up to 14 inches on the OD. We offer fast delivery on custom manufactured spherical bearing systems.
