Custom Composite Bearings

CIP Hydro™ Composites
CIP Hydro™ is a dependable and high quality composite material specifically designed for hydropower generating plants. CIP Hydro™ composites have been utilized to help eliminate undesired maintenance and optimize the friction, wear and bearing functions.
CIP Hydro™ is a non-toxic composite bearing material made by impregnating textiles with thermo setting resins and solid lubricants. Columbia Industrial Products offers this specialized, reliable hydro composite material for bearings, wear pads, sleeve & flange bushing, and thrust washers. CIP Hydro™ is a long lasting, wear resistant, self-lubricated, greaseless hydro bearing material that can aid in eliminating complex lubrication systems, while reducing the frequency of undesired replacements. As a composite material, CIP Hydro™ has high load, high impact capabilities while remaining light weight and corrosion resistant. CIP Hydro™ composites offer low coefficient of friction*, negligible moisture absorption and great dimensional stability in wet and dry environments. As a bearing functioning completely submerged under water, CIP Hydro™ performs excellently. This custom hydro material is easy to machine and can be press or freeze fitted with the ability to machine in place while remaining stable when misalignment is present. CIP does not use abrasive filler materials (calcium carbonate CaCO3) and is an environmentally friendly material.
CIP Hydro™ is custom designed to your specifications, and can be utilized as wicket gate bearings, pump bearings, main operating ring wear pads, servo valve wear rings, trunnion bushings and more. As a general guide, CIP Hydro™ composites can be used as replacements for existing bronze or urethane based wear and bearing materials.
